Affordable housing
High building costs, under supply of homes, and a steady increase of the cost of basic services has lead to a gradual decrease in housing affordability in Australia. We simply have to build more affordable homes. mondo living has released a new series of houses which tackle this issue of affordability through innovative design that promotes tangible benefits to both the user and the broader community. These Smart Homes are spatially efficient, developing small footprints that seamlessly engage with the outdoor living areas of the site.

These project home designs range from 160 to 190 square metres in total floor area, in 3 and 4 bedroom configurations. There are current eight (8) homes in the range.

Cost effective design strategies such as passive solar design, building orientation, and cross ventilation are all incorporated to promote year round comfort without high energy consumption. The complete living environment is considered in the design process to ensure consolidated outdoor spaces which are private and useable. A mixture of standard cladding materials are used creatively to articulate the building facades and create a contemporary affordable look. Finally these homes might be smaller in physical area but they deliver more tangible design outcomes which are sustainable and appropriate for a modern lifestyle.

Licensees should use the Advance Search engine in the Design Catalogue to view the whole series of designs. Search for Smart Homes under the Family name / Series field.

Otherwise, contact a mondo living for further information on the Smart Homes Series.
