Hill's new solar hot water
Evacuated Tube technology has been used in Europe for many years and delivers significantly better performance than standard flat plate collectors available in the market currently.

Their advanced design incorporates tubes that consist of two layers of high quality borosilicate glass with a vacuum layer in between. This vacuum acts like a thermos flask, retaining up to 97% of the thermal energy produced, resulting in increased efficiency. The sun's radiant energy is then transferred to the manifold via the heat pipe located inside each tube.

The small amount of evaporative liquid in each tube is superheated by the sun's energy and forms a vapour. The superheated vapour then rises to the top of each pipe, with the heat transferred to the water flowing through the manifold. The heated water is then returned to the tank, ready for use.

The tubes' cylindrical design ensures effective collection of the sun's radiant energy throughout the day. The efficiency of the collector is based on its ability to convert this radiant energy to thermal energy to heat water.

Based on this process, Evacuated Tubes can be up to 52% more efficient per square metre of aperture than any of the conventional flat plat collectors available.
